Buy Tamoxifen Online
Tamoxifen is probably one of the best-known anti-cancer drugs in the world, and
is used in particular for treating breast cancer. The drug was discovered some
30 years ago by ICI, now known as AstraZeneca .It is known by various brand
names, including Nolvadex, Istubal, and Valodex. However, it is still widely
known by its generic name of Tamoxifen.
Patients who buy Tamoxifen will have received a prescription from their doctor,
and this will detail the strength of the oral tablet to be taken and the times
it should be swallowed. Tamoxifen usually comes in tablet form in different
strengths, 10mg, 20mg and 40mg. Usually they are taken with a glass of water and
swallowed whole. However, for those who may have difficulty in swallowing,
Tamoxifen can be found as a sugar-free syrup. Tamoxifen tablets often come in
packs of 30. Different sizes are available online.
Tamoxifen works in the form of an anti-estrogen drug. Many breast cancers are
reliant on estrogen, the female sex hormone, to grow. These breast cancers are
called ‘estrogen-receptor positive’, as breast cancer cells that are
hormone-sensitive have proteins known as receptors to which the sex hormones
attach. Thus estrogen that comes into receptor contact stimulates the cancerous
cells too, and so the tumor grows.
Estrogen can be blocked from reaching the cancerous cells by Tamoxifen because
it will fit in to the estrogen receptors. Either the growth of the cancer is
inhibited, thus growing more slowly, or it stops growing completely.
Tamoxifen may be prescribed by a doctor for patients who have undergone surgery
for breast cancer. If this was in its early stage then it may lower the risk of
a return of the cancer. The drug can also be used on occasions to reduce a large
breast cancer prior to surgery.
Patients may be prescribed Tamoxifen for five years, alternatively if prescribed
for two or three years then they may have their prescription changed to a
different kind of hormone therapy, called an aromotase inhibitor. Tamoxifen may
be used if a cancer has returned or spread to different parts of the body in
order to control its spread.
Side Effects
As with any medicine, patients may experience various side effects when taking
Tamoxifen, though as every individual is different, some may suffer little or no
reaction to the drug. It is rare that side effects are severe so that a patient
has to stop taking Tamoxifen. The doctor treating the patient will advise as to
the best course of action should this be the case.
Common side effects of Tamoxifen are hot flushes and sweats that may lessen
gradually over a few months. Some people find that these effects remain during
the whole period of taking Tamoxifen, and suggestions to help reduce these
symptoms include reducing the intake of fluids such as coffee, tea and alcohol,
or cutting them out altogether. Avoiding or cutting down nicotine intake may
also be helpful.
Other fairly common effects include nausea and indigestion, weight gain, a
change in periods for women who have not reached the menopause, and leg cramps.
Any of these effects should be discussed with a doctor, as should any other
effects that appear to be related to taking the drug.
